1. What Is an Office / Microsoft 365 Redeem Key (OLSC PIN v3)?

Unlike traditional Windows or Office Volume MAK keys that activate directly inside the software, retail box and digital download keys for Office Home & Business 2024/2021/2019, Office Home & Student, Office Professional 2021 Retail Bind, and Microsoft 365 Personal/Family are issued as OLSC Redemption PINs.

When a user enters one of these 25-character keys at setup.office.com (or microsoft365.com/setup), Microsoft permanently binds the license entitlement to that user's Microsoft Account (`account.microsoft.com/services`). Because standard PKeyConfig checkers return "Unsupported or Unknown Key" on OLSC PINs, you need a dedicated Redeem Check tool.

2. Every Office Redeem Check Status Explained

When you run our Free Office Redeem Check, Microsoft's OLSC endpoint returns one of the following read-only states along with the exact Product SKU (`PKPN`) and Activation Configuration ID (`ACID`):

Key is scrapped / cancelled KeyScrapped — The retail card was deactivated or cancelled by the distributor. No. The token is permanently voided.
SKU Region / Country Locked SkuRegionBlocked — The key is valid and unused, but restricted to a specific geographic region (e.g., Eurozone, APAC, LATAM). Yes (within the matching Microsoft account region).

3. Step-by-Step: How to Redeem Your Key at setup.office.com & Download Office

  1. Verify the Key First: Run your 25-character key in Redeem Check Office 365 Check to confirm its status is Key can be redeemed (Unused / Active) and verify the exact edition (`PKPN`).
  2. Sign In at setup.office.com: Open https://setup.office.com in your browser and sign in with the personal or business Microsoft Account you want to permanently own the license.
  3. Enter Your 25-Character Redeem Key: Paste your key, select your country/region and language, and click Next to bind the license to your account.
  4. Download the Official Installer from Services & Subscriptions: You will be redirected to https://account.microsoft.com/services. Locate your newly bound Office 2024, Office 2021, or Microsoft 365 license, click Install, and choose either the default online Click-to-Run installer or the Offline Installer (`.img`) for faster deployment.
  5. Sign In Inside Word or Excel: Once installed, open Microsoft Word, sign in with the same Microsoft Account, and your Office suite will activate automatically!
